Jonathan Janson  was born and raised in the USA, graduated in 1972 from the Rhode Island School of Design, majoring in painting. During the freshman art history course, he was introduced to Vermeer's work.  Puzzled by what had seen,  he took a short trip to Boston to see Vermeer's Concert. This visit would have a profound effect on his profession and personal studies.

Since graduation he has lived and worked in Rome, Italy as a professional painter. He has had more than 25 solo exhibitions and his work is featured in international museums and private collections all over the world. A selection of representative oils and watercolors can be seen at:
